hi there

I'm Keighley, a recent graduate from Nottingham Trent University's Costume Design & Making Course. I have a love for all things historical, mythical and aesthetic as perfectly exemplified through my final year project which adapted Medieval Icelandic literature. I'm hoping to eventually specialise in historical and fantasy costuming making and research, building a portfolio style career and experimenting in plenty of fields. I enjoy in-depth research: navigating ancient civilisations and re-constructing historical perspectives. In fact, details and intricacies are my favourite part of each aspect of costuming- from tiny hand sewn embroidery stitches to the finishing touches on a design. I'm currently looking to turn this attention to detail to industry work.

Moving countries several times throughout my life and having always danced has given me an appreciation for culture, adventure and performance. My work is also heavily influenced by a love for books- from classic literature to children's novels to ancient, translated texts, this love has given my designs a storybook like quality. I approach design projects from an authorial perspective and apply the same thorough mind set to my making projects.
